Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong has dragged investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas to the General Legal Council, accusing him of misconduct as a lawyer.
In a complaint letter to the council, Mr Agyapong said he has evidence the lawyer and journalist connived with a state attorney to have a case against some accused persons dismissed.
The vociferous MP has been on a campaign against Anas, insisting that his style of allegedly entrapping people is contrary to the ethics of journalism and law.
On his part, the journalist has dragged the legislator to court for defaming him, and is demanding the high court to award ¢25 million in aggravated damages for publishing defamatory materials
Responding to Mr Agyapong’s complaint to the GLC, lawyer for Anas, Kissi Agyebeng lauded the legislator’s passion to get to his client, which he described as misplaced, saying, “He goes around buying information, and the people who sell to him have no intention of selling it to him but are only interested in his money. Two per cent of the information is true; the 98 per cent is false,” he said.
According to him, Mr Agyapong should be ready to respond to how he managed to fake a court process, the basis upon which he said a case was dismissed, which he faked and put on social media.
He said he has all the evidence that the MP faked a court process, which he will provide in due time.
