THE Minister for Procurement and deputy Majority Leader, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has cut the sod to commence the construction of a one storey 3-Unit Classroom Block for Atomic Hills Cluster of Schools.
The facility, when completed will have a library, an ICT lab and a KVIP. It is expected to be completed within 12 months.
Adwoa Safo, who is the MP for Dome/Kwabena Constituency, told journalists that she was touched by the school’s academic excellence despite having limited classroom blocks resulting in a massive congestion at the school.
With a population of 1,400, about 70 students occupy one classroom, a situation, which, according deputy Majority Leader, does not encourage good teaching practices as well as convenience in the classroom.
Additionally, Adwoa Safo donated some textbooks to assist the students, especially those who will be writing the BECE this year, to adequately prepare for the exams.
The Headmistress of the school, Madam Felicia Obeng Boateng, who received the items, commended the MP for her gesture, adding that due to the academic excellence of the school most parents have been desirous to bring their children to the school, thereby putting pressure on the few existing facilities.
