A Former Deputy Attorney-General, Dr. Dominic Ayine has filed a petition challenging the nomination of the anti-corruption campaigner as Special Prosecutor.

In the petition Mr. Ayine, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga East said Mr Amidu, 66, is beyond the statutory age and is, therefore, not qualified to be appointed to a public office.

The Special Prosecutor is entitled to the emolument, privileges and facilities of Appeals Court judges who retire at the age of 70. Mr. Amidu, will be 73 years at the end of his seven year term as Special Prosecutor which the plaintiff says is unconstitutional.
