Tarkwa Hospital Gets Help From Foundation
AS part of measures to improve health standards in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality, the Ghana Physicians and Surgeons Foundation, USA, has donated drugs worth more than 220,000 dollars to the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital.
Making the presentation, the Vice-President of the Foundation, Dr Theodora Fynn, explained that the group, which goes by name, ‘Americure USA’, was motivated to donate the drugs to help to
impact society with their activities.
She said the primary concern of members of the group as health professionals, was to constantly to see an improved health service delivery in Ghana hence the support being offered.
Receiving the drugs on behalf of the hospital, the Municipal Health Director for Tarkwa Municipality, Mr Emmanuel Affelkum, commended the group for the kind gesture.
He also handed the drugs to the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital Dr Frederick Yaw Sarpong.
Speaking in an interview after the ceremony, Dr Sarpong said the donation will go a long way to assist service delivery.
He described the gesture as timely and an intervention that will cut down the visible challenges facing the facility including drugs.
He called on other social groups in and outside of the country to emulate the shining example showcased by the medical practitioners.
