Koforidua SecTeck Student Dies Of Meningitis


The death of a form two student of the Koforidua Secondary Technical School identified as Yaw Dennis has caused fear and panic among students.

Sources in the school indicate that, the deceased persistently complained to his friends of severe fever and body weakness about a week ago after he took part in the School’s 50th anniversary float last week.

His condition however worsened while he complained of stiff neck.

An Uncle of the deceased, identified as Dr. Edwin Okoampa Boadu, in an interview with an Accra based private radio station said he got to know of the condition of his nephew on Friday but was met with bad news of his death upon arrival at the Hospital.

Dr Boadu, said the family was told the boy was killed by meningitis and so they had to quickly inform the housemaster and leadership of the School to take safety measures.

Health officials are expected to visit the school for epidemiological surveillance and awareness to ensure that the contagious disease does not affect other students.
