THE OPPOSITION NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (NDC), has formally declared January 19, 2019 as the day delegates from all over the country will elect it the flag-bearer to lead to party to the 2020 polls.
As yet, no concrete decision on the venue has been communicated. However, party sources say, an amount of Ghc 200,000.00 has been pegged as the nomination fee, whiles the filling fee is pegged at Ghc 400,000.00
National Executives Council (NEC) within the party have shown sympathy to women and people living with disabilities by slashing their filing fees. They say, such people are to pay an amount of Ghc 200,000.00 as filing fees.
Former president Mahama is facing stiff opposition from party stalwarts including former Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof Joshua Alabi, longest serving Member of Parliament and current Second Deputy Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, Former Education and Trade Minister, Ekow Spio – Garbrah, Mr Goosie Tanor, Mr Rickets Hagan, among others
Just after returning from the just ended National Delegates Conference staged in Accra about two (2) weeks ago, the current executives have deferred the original date of the primaries from December 7, 2018 to January 19, 2019
The NDC party believes Ghanaians have been let down by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and his Vice, Dr Mahamadou Bawumia. They therefore will leave no stone unturned as they seek to wrestle power from the NPP
