‘Too risky’ hit maker Medikal is gearing up for his ‘Don’t do drugs’ campaign tour to senior high and tertiary institutions throughout the country.
According to Medikal who is known in real life as Samuel Frimpong, explained that the campaign is very dear to his heart because he once lost a friend to drugs.
Medikal in talking about the campaign said: “As a young man and musician, I see a lot of my fellow young ones these days using illicit drugs like it’s a new way”.
The way our future generation is trying so hard to make the use of drugs the new cool, is a serious bother – He opined.
He further added that, he knows the influence he has on his fans especially the youth; ‘I know they love me and they listen to me therefore I want to use this influence to drive this positive campaign to help prevent the increasing number of young people using drugs’ – he mentioned.
“With all this abuse of the drugs such as tramadol, codeine, just to mention a few, I got so scared and worried for our future leaders; so for that reason my team and I decided to do something about it, that is how we settled on ‘Don’t Do Drugs’ campaign.
In hitting on why he chose Senior High Schools, Medikal noted that he believes the problem has to be curbed from the roots because these kids are the window of hope.
‘Don’t Do Drugs’ will see the rapper take his fellow musicians and resource persons round to educate the youth on the importance of abstaining from drugs.
A date and venue would be announced later for the big launch of this campaign.
